We are always looking for new freelancers who are interested in taking on work in helping design and/or construct new musician websites!
In particular, the following skill sets are of interest to us:
- Graphic design (no web programming/HTML skills necessary, but experience designing for the web a plus)
- Web development/programming: PHP, MVC based PHP toolkits such as CodeIgniter, CakePHP, etc., Javascript, Prototype, AJAX, MySQL experience a plus, must be very strong in HTML, CSS, and WordPress theming. Experience with techniques such as use of background sprites, object oriented programming, Script.aculo.us, working in a Unix based environment, using a revision control-based workflow (i.e. Git, Subversion, etc.) and content management systems also a plus. Not being fluent in each of these technologies is perfectly acceptable providing that you are willing to learn, and are proficient enough to be able to pick all of this up comfortably.
- Content development/proofreading/editing/management

Candidates are vetted with a paid test designed to assess their ability to work with a set of specifications, communicate effectively, and generally work well within our work environment.
All freelance work is subcontracted on an as-needed basis, but we ask that graphic designers commit to providing their peer review on other designs as desired, as we have found that many designers appreciate having their work peer reviewed, and that it generally yields better results. We provide no office space or equipment, we expect that you can work productively from a place of your choosing so long as you are consistently relatively responsive, comfortable working remotely and communicating with clarity and with a pleasant, positive, and professional demeanor.
